The GLADIATOR by Ridley Scott ('Blade Runner', 'Alien', 'G.I. Jane') is a triumphant return of the Roman epic, it even restores faith in togas, sandals and chariots. Costume designer JANTY YATES created the widely varied wardrobe for the GLADIATOR, ranging from the resplendent armor worn by MAXIMUS (Russel Crowe) and COMMODUS (Joaquin Phoenix), to LUCILLA's (Connie Nielsen) exquisite gowns, to the relatively plain tunics of the gladiators.
