Fashion.at style preview autumn 2020: Interpretation of Austrian traditional trachten look

In Austria, wearing the country's traditional clothing 'tracht' isn't obligatory for setting a sign to be integrated. Now as the country's people have returned more to the 'normal' than a 'new normal' , it's time again to explain what integration means or what Austrian officials want when they send a so-called 'Integration Agreement'. The first and most important wrong assumption is that only migrants receive such contracts. Every Austrian, even the ones without migration background, can get the invitation to sign the agreement or loose the right of the insurance contract as Austrian citizen with the state; they get quasi expatriated by migrating from the social insurance to the integration agreement; they don't loose their citizenship but it feels similar. And it's not easy to get out from the official status of being a person with integration deficit. The integration of people is mainly achieved through interviews followed by German language lessons and courses where the country's values and rules of conduct are mediated.

Tracht isn't part of these measures, despite clothing, and not only tracht, was more than one time misused - but this is history. (Article about a currently running exhibition of traditional clothing seen from various perspectives such as the definition of gender.) Austrians don't let them sew in nowadays. Tracht is again a relaxed clothing style which says nothing about the integration of a person into any political system or ideology.
