Fashion.at Style Tip for Harvest Festivals in Austria

The upcoming harvest festival season starts in Austria depending on the region at the end of August and lasts until November. The popular 'Wiesn' folk festivals coincide with the harvest festival season. In Vienna for example, the 'Kaiser Wiesn' folk festival runs this year from 22 September until 9 October 2022 (article). In Zell am See Kaprun (Salzburg), the harvest festival season starts with the Farmers' Autumn weekly markets in the last days of August and ends in late October. The (non-obligatory) dress code for both events is similar: Traditional rural clothing in classic style or new interpretations of trachten.

Fashion.at received some 'Wiesn'-trend tips by festival specialists from Salzburg. The pieces are originally collected for the 'Wiesn' October Festival such as it's celebrated in Munich, Bavaria or in Vienna at the Kaiser Wiesn. The pieces show a moderate 'trachten' (traditional Middle-European clothing) look. Fashion.at combined the fashion with items referencing elements strongly connected to autumn festivals: The material 'wood' of the rural market booths and gastronomy huts is represented with a new woody perfume composition for women and men, the 'heart' referencing the tradition to express the love to the partner or aspiring partner with a gingerbread heart is made in this harvest festival style tip of diamonds.

The skirt 'Delia' is from the trachten collection by 'josef & anna', the traditional clothing inspired line of urban looks by Vienna-based slow fashion brand Weber + Weber which is available at retailers like Breuninger, Lodenfrey, Kastner & Öhler, or Sagmeister.

The gray cashmere blend half-sleeve pullover by Rosa & Me shows accents of traditional clothing like balloon sleeves and a gathered skirt part. The German brand is available at retailers like Breuninger, Peek & Cloppenburg, Zalando,...

The new eau de parfum 'Zero' for women and men by Comme des Garçons (launched 2022) is an olfactory interpretation of wood and the celebration of the connection to earth. The main ingredient cedarwood is hand-harvested and extracted by using hydroelectric power. 95% of the ingredients are of natural origin; the perfume 'Zero' is carbon neutral (parts that can't be avoided are compensated).
