Fashion.at's favorite for the summer: long-lasting linen and espadrilles

Currently, men's fashion shows in Paris are presenting the looks for summer 2025, and the explorer style is a classic that is in trend from season to season. One of the typical explorer colors is sand, which evokes associations with the coast and sandy beaches. Fashion.at looked through the latest press releases for new, already available summer items that perfectly fit the (unisex) explorer style and found the latest news from Ludwig Reiter about the collaboration with the Austrian linen manufacturer Leitner Leinen for a new weekender and the press information from adidas Originals about the partnership with Edison Chen for the CLOT Gazelle.

The adidas Originals CLOT Gazelle by Edison Chen uses an espadrille-inspired sole to reference the summer shoe that is strongly associated with the relaxed life on the shores of the Spanish islands and the French Riviera. The etymology of the word espadrilles comes from the regional language of southern France and refers to a Mediterranean grass that was used to make ropes - and the soles of the originally Spanish espadrilles. The adidas Originals X Edison Chen's CLOT Gazelle features a molded outsole that is stitched to the suede and textile upper using traditional espadrille stitching machines. Developed in partnership with Edison Chen, founder of Hong Kong-based streetwear label CLOT, the sneaker-espadrille features a comfortable custom molded sock liner and hand-embroidered glass beaded stripes.

The weekender of the Austrian shoe and leather accessory manufacturer Ludwig Reiter (since 1885) in cooperation with the Upper Austrian linen weaver Leitner Leinen (since 1853) is limited to 30 pieces. Leitner Leinen is best known for its long-lasting home textiles for beds, curtains, etc. The company collaborates with international artists and designers to create the designs, but also has an archive from which the patterns are taken. At https://www.leitnerleinen.com/de/news/kollektion-2024/ the new collection with designs by artists from South Korea, Slovenia and New York is described as an extension of the company's "Garden Eden of floral designs". At https://www.leitnerleinen.com/en/linen, Leitner publishes insights into the cultivation of flax, the harvesting of the plants, the processing, the spinning into yarns and the weaving of linen. The handcrafted weekender is made of a jacquard fabric with a 'Folia' pattern featuring palm leaves in the sandy beige-brown 'Terra' hues and calfskin from the French Tannerie Haas.
