Fish in smoke and red beet with poppy mustard

I visited the new restaurant Heuer at the Karlsplatz in Vienna yesterday. Heuer opened two weeks ago. Daily newspapers published already articles about the founders, the architecture and the culinary concept of the restaurant and lounge in the center of the city of Vienna. The culinary is really a surprise and it fits to my personal preferences for pure and original taste of vegetables and fish with refined food extras such as the poppy mustard which was served to the grilled red beets (image right). The mix of the two dishes filled the mouth with a dry-bitter (poppy mustard) and sweet (the beet) taste. The fish (on view on the image below) was packed into the paper of a daily medium; incidentially, it was served on a random page with football player on one side, philharmonic orchestra on the other. A good way to recycle paper editions of daily press! The fish - a char, was smoked and served with apple, radish and bread. Heuer's fish is already legendary because of its lusciousness albeit it's smoked; the daily news medium Der Standard (most visited online daily press in February after OEWA measurement for reach inside Austria) describes the char in smoke as incredibly juicy.

What other media didn't mention (articles after the opening, fast checked via Google search yesterday) is that restaurant/lounge Heuer elaborated alongside to the culinary an urban gardening concept for the place around the restaurant at the Karlsplatz and invited students from four Viennese universities (Academy of Fine Arts, University of Technology, University of Applied Arts, and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences) to collaborate for the city project. Heuer presents the urban garden on the separate website www.karlsgarten.at, where under 'Inspirationen' links to projects in New York and London are published.

Restaurant/lounge Heuer's second feature which is not bespoken already in media is that the idea behind the experimental culture gardening corresponds with the program of the art space 'Kunsthalle Wien' which provides the location.

My summary: Heuer applies good taste to art and culture in Vienna which corresponds with my own.
