9 October 2018 At the editorial office of Fashion.at, Advent or Christmas is since August theme. Yes, that's early - and it's also now in October early to write about Advent gifts; especially when the weather is so warm that lilac bushes begin to blossom for the second time this year in Vienna; October is in this region normally the time when people begin to make their homes cosy as it's cold and unfriendly outside. Many of the presented collections or special editions arrive in general at editorial offices earlier than on the market as even journalists or publishers - or however chroniclers are named in days of digital media, need time for selecting and writing about chosen products. Now, Fashion.at 'has bitten' (without testing) at one of the news which landed in the magazine's mailbox: The seductive calendar by Thomas Sabo and Lindt & Sprüngli is decorated with stars and moon in the style of the jeweler's current festive collection 'Kingdom of Dreams' and filled with sweets by the Swiss chocolatier. Additionally, the jeweler packed two vouchers into the 24 days calendar box. Perhaps the Advent calendar is one of the 'intelligent' products for Christmas 2018 which marks the beginning of a new style of consumerism. The box contains goods which can be eaten (chocolate in moderate amount is healthy), the visual of the box is decorative, and it's a calendar which increases the anticipation on the peaceful Christmas time dedicated to the wonders of birth and life on planet earth accompanied by a sort of 'space'-story of getting guided by the 'Advent'-star or star of Bethlehem. For sure, the wonder-case will become waste after Christmas and has to be separated after used materials such as paper or plastic. But through lifetime, the box was more than a beautiful packaging. fig.: Advent calendar by jeweler and watchmaker Thomas Sabo filled with chocolate by Lindt-Sprüngli and two vouchers; available from 11 October 2018 at stores and online www.thomassabo.com.
