Gastro tip Vienna: Rooftop bar, café 'ocean'sky' at the aqua terra zoo 'Haus des Meeres'

Recently, the gastronomy and event location 'ocean'sky' at the aqua terra zoo 'Haus des Meeres' (translated 'House of the Sea') was ranked after user votes on the 2nd position of the gourmet magazine 'Falstaff' favored rooftop-bars in Vienna-list. Ocean'sky provides snacks and drinks for the visitors of the aqua terra zoo located at a flak tower of the 2nd World War. In 2012, the activities of Haus des Meeres - from the zoo with turtle 'Puppi' once saved from becoming a soup ingredient, the museum where the history of the city is mediated and the temporary art installation 'Save our Oceans' for making visitors aware of plastic garbage and the environment, were themes of an article on Fashion.at.

Now several years later, Haus des Meeres hasn't only achieved a prominent gastro ranking; the building itself gets an 'update'. At the end of May, the construction work for the extension of Haus des Meeres by an enclosed building has started - while the zoo, museum, or the rooftop bar is accessible as always to the public. The extension concerns new spaces for the aqua terra zoo and the gastronomy, event location ocean'sky (preview of the new architecture at the image right).
