Austria Insight: What's a Saurüssel-rucksack?
Since 1st April, the Austrian federal states in the east of the country are in hard lockdown again which means museums, hotels, gastronomy or stores are closed. The hard lockdown mode in Lower Austria, Burgenland and Vienna foresees that people can leave their home for work or for recreation such as running, cycling or walking. It's allowed to make a day trip and go by train or car to other areas for the last mentioned recreation activities. Now, Fashion.at searched for offers in the countryside near Vienna and came around a press release with the term 'Saurüssel-Picknickrucksack' in the title. A good reason for reading further.
The term 'Saurüssel-Picknickrucksack' is set together from three words; the first can hardly be deciphered by non-German speakers. A Saurüssel means pig trunk. It's the name of a brand from Poysdorf with origins in the 1950ies (article). Now, the brand is the name giver of a culinary package which can be consumed even in times of hard lockdown. Poysdorf in Lower Austria is not only a very active and prosperous agricultural region, it's also known for walking and cycling routes. The Saurüssel-backback is explicitly packed for picnics during healthy recreation tours in and around Poysdorf. The backpack with picnic utensils and food, wine, mineral water for two persons can be ordered via vinoversum.at. For the 'good noses' with an open mind for explorations, the rucksack contains a cycling and hiking map on the subject 'Saurüssel'!
