Salzburg Insights: Preview of the festive Advent market-season at St. Peter Stiftskulinarium (opens on 18 November)

Last year due to the pandemic, winter markets and gastronomy had to close their doors for visitors and guests. This year thanks to the vaccinations, the traditional markets and especially for the festive times decorated restaurants and booths are open again. An extensive calendar of selected Austrian Advent and Christmas markets is published at austria.info. Many of the markets listed at the calendar are well known; some are absolutely new such as the Advent market at Palais Liechtenstein (13 November - 23 Dezember) in Vienna. Fashion.at visited several of the locations through the years such as the market at Burg Forchtenstein (article) which happens this year from 26 to 28 November, or the 'Altwiener Christkindlmarkt' (article), open from 20 November until 23 December.

In addition to the mostly open-air winter markets with handicrafts and culinary products, restaurants offer hot wine and chocolate variations with seasonal dishes in their outdoor areas. One of them is St. Peter Stiftskulinarium in the city of Salzburg. The restaurant with various areas for fine dining or informal get-together is located in a building of St. Peter's Abbey where gastronomy activities have been run since the 9th century (history). It's announced that hot wine punch and children's beverages will be served at the festively decorated outdoor lounge of the St. Peter Stiftskulinarium from 18 November; on the same day at a distance of around 1 minute walk, the Salzburger Christkindlmarkt am Dom- und Residenzplatz opens.
