Café Prückel has been the venue for many Fashion.at meetings to discuss collaborations or future projects since the magazine was first published in 1996. The café is a popular place for people from the creative industries and the entertainment business. Vis a vis is the MAK Museum of Applied Arts and the University of Applied Arts. Here at the Prückel, the stars of the cultural scene enjoy their privacy in public. In the summer of last year, it was officially announced that a team from JP Immobilien Group would be taking over the café from Christl Sedlar, who had owned it since 1960. Then the plans to renovate the historic café became public. This caused a shock wave among the regular guests. Fortunately, the renovation was put in the hands of the architects of eichinger offices. Gregor Eichinger is a specialist in the interior design of gastronomic venues. For the restaurant 'Lugeck' he reinterpreted the aesthetics of old Viennese inns, for the hotel 'SO/ Vienna' he redesigned the lounge-bar area. Gregor Eichinger is also active in exhibition design, such as the exhibition 'Show Off - Austrian Fashion Design' at the MAK in 2020, or recently the architect presented his own jewelry design, the 'X Ring'. More information about these projects is published at eichingeroffices.com. Originally designed in 1955 by renowned architect Oswald Haerdtl, Café Prückel, a cultural landmark in Vienna, was sensitively renovated by Gregor Eichinger and his team at eichinger offices, known for their timeless aesthetics and respect for architectural heritage. He approached the project with care, preserving the café's iconic mid-century charm while modernizing essential aspects. Subtle changes, including fresh paint, refurbished windows, and reupholstered furniture with custom fabric that replicates the 1955 original, enhance the café's ambiance without altering its essence. Eichinger also improved the symmetry of the space with adjustments such as a redesigned glass partition and revamped functional areas such as the entrance, cake display, and newspaper corner. Modern conveniences such as sockets for computers at the seats and improved air conditioning are seamlessly integrated into the design. Images: Inside Café Prückel in Vienna.
