What determines the artistic identity or the national
origin of the artistic subjects?
Alman Mali means in Turkish 'Made in Germany'. The exhibition questions cultural hybridity as a marketing tool. Is cultural hybridity a
central ideologue and political precondition of regional competitiveness in an global economy? Does an
economy that seemingly postulates freedom on all levels, while reducing it’s negative side effects to
the level of individual responsibility, not acknowledging that those are actually inherent. Is cultural hybridity
just a PR-strategy? The participating artists can be characterised by negotiating their identities
between a German and a Turkish background. Their intercultural identity
construction is one (among many others) aspect of their work itself. more culture >>>
