Ballerinas in sound tutus, dresses that change interactively... From 14 June to 16 September 2012, the MQ - MuseumsQuartier in Vienna focuses with exhibitions, performances, catwalk shows, films, discussions and kids workshops under the title 'Summer of Fashion' on the experience of fashion and art. To mention only three events from an extensive program: The 'Audio Ballerinas' (video below) by Benoit Maubrey/Audio Gruppe will dance in electronic-acoustic tutus on 16 June in the main court (photo right). At 'Photoautomat', MQ guests are invited to become part of a fashion collection which will be presented on 18 August on the catwalk. And at the exhibition 'Technosensual: where fashion meets technology' from 15 June to 2 September 2012 at quartier21/MQ, interactive art and wearable technology-creations are on show. The artists and Haute Tech-Couture designers of the pieces come from the Netherlands, Canada, UK, US, France, Australia and Austria. Bart Hess for example will present the interactive video 'Mutants'; visitors can control the Mutant by blowing into a tube which is equipped with a sensor. While Studio Roosegaarde's work 'Intimacy 2.0' is made of two electronic foil-dresses; the material changes its transparency (concealing or revealing the wearer's nudity) in interaction with the spectators. Some of the designers will live during the next months as quartier21 Artists-in-Residence at the MQ (MuseumsQuartier). The video shows the 'Audio Ballerinas' by Benoit Maubrey/Audio Gruppe performing at San Jose City Hall on 16 September 2010 during the SJ Biennial. The clothes are equipped with sensors and speakers. The women (musicians, dancers) make sounds by moving in their clothes. On 16 June 2012, the 'Audio Ballerinas' will perform during MQ Summer of Fashion. |
