Personalities from fashion, music, art, film on silver coins ...seen in June on World of Numismatics (belongs to Schoeller Münzhandel/Münze Österreich) such as the Finish fashion industry legend Armi Ratia, Parisian (Belgian born) European jazz music pioneer Django Reinhardt, Austrian revolutionary artist Egon Schiele or Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe. The coins are time memorabilia of older and newer history: such as the silver coin that pays homage to the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day in 2011 or the wonderful design of a dragon which breaks through the waves of water as symbol of the Year of the Dragon in 2012. It is an inspiring source and will serve in future not only as 'silvered' history but also as reference to the esthetics of our times in the meaning of the visual appearance like design as well as the content such as the personalities who are counted worthy enough to be stamped into metal. The World of Numismatics website navigates the visitor through themes like Chinese Zodiac Signs, Jubilees & Occasions, Art & Culture, or for example Personalities. One if them is female entrepreneur Armi Ratia who founded in 1951 the Finish fashion label Marimekko which received international attention by magazines like Vogue, Elle, Women's Wear Daily after Jacqueline Kennedy posed in 1960 on the cover of Sports Illustrated in a red sleeveless Marimekko dress. Marimekko is known for colorful textile prints and the clothing's straight patterns with experimental touch. Already in 1968, Armi Ratia released unisex t-shirts. The t-shirts' even stripes stood and stand for equality.
