Jaeger-LeCoultre prize for filmmaker Ettore Scola

On 6 September 2013 during the 70th Venice Film Festival (28 August - 7 September 2013), internationally renowned and prize winning Italian director and screenwriter Ettore Scola (born 1931, known for movies like 'A Special Day' with Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni, 1977) will receive the 'Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker 2013' award. Watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre dedicates the prize to personalities who brought major innovations to contemporary cinema.

Daniel Riedo, CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre, says about the brand's motivation for honoring innovations in the field cinema: "There is a shared obsession between ground breaking cinematographic achievement and horological accomplishment. The fact that Jaeger-LeCoultre has always had an affinity with the 7th Art is doubtless because it is all about two worlds infused with creative effervescence and with a longstanding tradition of inspirational art combined with technological daring."

In the last seven years, the prize was awarded to Takeshi Kitano (2007), Abbas Kiarostami (2008), Agnès Varda (2008), Sylvester Stallone (2009), Mani Ratnam (2010), Al Pacino (2011), Spike Lee (2012).

After the award ceremony, Ettore Scola's new film, the biographical movie 'Che strano chiamarsi Federico!' about the life and work of his friend Italian director Federico Fellini, will premiere at the 70th Venice Film Festival.
