Exploring Vienna on design tracks ...is program at Vienna Design Week where products and artworks by designers will be presented between 26 September and 5 October 2014 at various destinations. Director (for the eighth time) of the design week is Lilli Hollein - on view on this page with the 'moving' chair which is colored in this year's festival 'Blue Tone'. The 'moving' chair stands for the characteristic of the festival which tours through the city such as on occasion of the Passionswege - translated 'paths of passion', which lead to workshops of typical Viennese products. Eight designers (from UK, CH, CZ...) will create (art-)installations which reflect the work of Viennese producers of fashion and interior culture such as PostlerFerguson from London who will reflect on A.E. Köchert Jewellers by re-working music tools into pieces of jewellery or the designers of the Czech Studio deFORM who will present a leather-installation at the Viennese shoemaker (since 1816) Rudolf Scheer & Söhne. The making of 'Passionswege'-images are already published online such as the one of the workshop of Rudolf Scheer & Söhne and the photo from the meeting of PostlerFerguson and A.E. Köchert. Vienna Design Week offers guided tours for families, student groups or design professionals during the ten days. The ones who plan to travel with airplane to Vienna can save 15% by entering a special code (fast checked today on 27 August 2014 on viennadesignweek.at). |
