Vienna insight: Eyewear shopping
Vienna insight by Fashionoffice publisher Karin Sawetz

Twenty years ago in Vienna, it wasn't possible to go to a store and get low-price glasses after an actual diopter measurement. In our days, it's so easy to combine eye test (without going to the doctor) and shopping new eyewear! Not only that contemporary stores like the internationally active retail chain Fielmann employ professional opticians for handling the technical eye-measuring equipment, even the price for eyewear has changed. Compared to former decades, optical eyewear with individual diopter adjustment is absolutely affordable. In the case of Fielmann at Mariahilferstrasse 67 in Vienna, a wide range of models are offered at the showcases. The prices for customized optical eyewear start at 17,50.- Euros and vary after frame and quality of the glasses. For colored shades - such as on view at the images, the price is higher and starts at around 35.- per glass. The costs for colored optical eyewear inclusively frame start at around 85.- Euros. Currently, it's fashionable to wear toned glasses. Fielmann offers a nice lens collection from classical, elegant tones over bright colors like shocking pink or yelling yellow, to graded shades with soft light-protection (all of the glasses protect from UV-light). At Fielmann, the custom-made production lasts around one week.
