Virtual and augmented realities will be other core themes at the upcoming festival. Wien Tourismus (Vienna Tourism Board) or AWS (Austria Wirtschaftsservice) belong to the programme partners of digital reality activities. Until 8 June, aspiring programme partners (companies, design studios, museums, institutions, galleries,...) can submit their ideas (workshop, installation, pop-up store,...) for the 10-day festival (details). There is no restriction in which field of design the presentation has to be; it's open in general to contemporary design - from lifestyle products to architecture, social to graphic design. 'Graphic design' is one of the special formats of Vienna Design Week. This year, it pays homage to 'protest'. It's announced that graphic designers will create on occasion of the festival posters expressing their personal protest topic.
