30 August 2018 Yesterday on 29 August, the call to the 'Global Change Award 2019' - initiated in 2015 by H&M Foundation in collaboration with Accenture and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, was introduced by Erik Bang (image right), the creator of the competition of the worldwide challenge of making fashion more circular (through reused or recycled materials), with a text referencing climate change, the growth of world population and the role fashion plays now and in future. (Post embedded on this page, below.) Erik Bang joined H&M Foundation in 2014 and developed the 'Global Change Award' which started in 2015. In 2016, the first winners were selected; today, the gallery presents 18 winner projects (inclusively prize money) dedicated to new ways how fashion is produced and recycled. As Erik Bang, Innovation Lead H&M Foundation states "new materials alone will not be enough" for transforming the industry. In the fourth year of the 'Global Change Award', the focus is set on digital innovations concerning all stages of the industry - producers, sellers and end-consumers, for increasing the circular, efficient use of resources. The application period ends on 17 October. Experts from various fields of fashion, circularity, innovation,... will select five winners who will receive their awards at a ceremony
in the Stockholm City Hall in April 2019. 1 million Euros will be invested into the winning projects of the Global Change Award 2019. |
