Preview Vienna Design Week: Five 'Stadtarbeit' projects approach social design of the present and future
'Stadtarbeit' (means as much as 'City Work') is one of the special formats of the annual Vienna Design Week happening this year from 28 September until 7 October at various locations through the city. From 51 submissions under the topic 'Social Design', five projects concerning outlawing, the future of work, urban planning, traffic, and food were selected.

The five selected social design projects of 'Stadtarbeit' are:
- 'Eine Tonne' (One Ton) raises the awareness of the value of agricultural products by thematizing the work of farmers behind wheat.
- 'Auf'ne Limo' (double meaning of going to drink a lemonade and a limousine) questions car traffic in the city.
- The project 'Blaustelle' invites visitors to re-interpret via blueprints construction sites of Vienna's 7th district.
- 'Arbeit nach der Arbeit' (Work after work) questions how our society will interact, behave when work is done increasingly by robots and artificial intelligence.
- And 'Behind Bourgeois' is announced as exploration and visualization of living conditions of socially marginalized people who are confronted with the themes age, asylum and poverty.
