MKG Hamburg 2020 programme starts with exhibitions like '100 years of positionable light'
Fashion.at previewed the exhibition programme 2020 of the MKG Hamburg. Already in the beginning of the new year, the German arts & crafts museum stages the history of directional electric light which starts with the invention by Curt Fischer (1890–1956) in 1919. Curt Fischer founded the lighting production company with the name 'Midgard' which is together with furniture manufacturer 'Thonet' supporting partner of the show at MKG Hamburg. Both companies, Midgard with its directional light and Thonet (keyword Vienna coffee house chair) are pioneers of the industrial production. The folding directional light 'Midgard' provided better conditions for the workers and became for example a favorite of Bauhaus architect Walter Gropius who used lighting by Midgard at his own house. MKG Hamburg announces to present the history of directional light up to nowadays with additional models by around 20 other producers.
