First commercial spacewear using new materials like Tencel Luxe presented by Virgin Galactic X Under Armour

The first ever spacewear for private astronauts was announced this year in January by Virgin Galactic in cooperation with Under Armour. Yesterday, the spacewear system consisting of base layer, spacesuit, footwear, training suit and Limited Edition astronaut jacket was presented.

The design concepts by Under Armour for the commercial spacewear were developed with knowledge from areas like medicine, space traveling, clothing and shoe technology. At underarmour.com, details of the spacewear system such as used fabrics like Tencel Luxe for the liner of the spacesuit are published.

It's announced that the items will be worn already on test spaceflights before the commercial flights start in 2020. Richard Branson is cited in the press release: "... I love the way the spacewear looks and I love the way it feels. I also love the fact that the next time I put it on, I will be on my way to space."
