23 January 2019 From 19 February until 3 March, around 700 athletes from 60 nations will compete in the disciplines ski jumping, cross-country skiing and in Nordic at the 52nd FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld, Tyrol, Austria. Seefeld was already two times selected for Nordic disciplines during Olympic Winter Games in 1964 and 1976, and was one time (1985) the venue of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships (history). German watch brand Junghans will be the official timing partner of the upcoming FIS World Championships. On occasion of the sports partnership, Junghans presents the 'WM-Edition 1972 Chronoscope Quartz' (on view on this page), limited to 52 pieces. The number '52' honors the 52nd edition of the FIS - Fédération Internationale de Ski World Championships. The basic '1972 Chronoscope Quartz' model references the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany where Junghans was the official timekeeper. The special edition's colors - mainly red and white with lightblue, pay tribute to the motif of the logo of the 52nd winter sport event. One of the 52 watches will be donated to the 'Junghans Award' winner of the ski jumper competitions. The winner will be calculated after the achieved greatest distance in the first and second jump without judges' rating and point deduction because of favorable upwinds. The competitions will be held at the Bergisel Skijumping Hill (designed by architect Zaha Hadid) in Tyrol's capital city Innsbruck and at the Toni Seelos Jumping Hills in Seefeld where the winner will receive the Junghans Award after the FIS Nordic World Ski Championship medal ceremony. |
