8 July 2022 The first game England - Austria ended with 1 - 0. A very good result for the Austrians in a play with the team of a country where women's football has a long tradition and many years of support. The Austria Women's National Football Team was founded 1990. Since the team reached the semi-final at the last Women's Championship in 2017, women's football has received more attention also in Austria. The team's success is credited with words like 'Summer Tale' and 'Wonder' - which also earned them the superhero title 'Wonder-Team' in Austrian media. A wonder is also the increasing interest by the audience which can be measured via TV, Web and App audience respectively usage data of broadcasts and streaming respectively online media by the country's public service broadcaster ORF. The match in front of 70.000 people at the Old Trafford stadium in Manchester was watched in Austria on ORF TV and the public service's web and app media by around 1,7 million people. On the TV channel ORF 1 were measured 1.667 million from the start of the long football evening on 6 July from 17:55; this equates to 22% of the country's TV population aged over twelve years. The national footballer's performance is commentated by the ORF Sport team with presenters and reporters like Kristina Inhof, Alina Zellhofer, or Anna-Theresa Lallitsch. The next game of the Austria Women's National Football Team will happen in three days on 11 July Austria vs. Northern Ireland. On 15 July, Austria will play vs. Norway (UEFA calendar with results). The Austrian Football Association ÖFB published today insights into the recharging and training of the team for the next match against Northern Ireland with the statement of Austrian team player Laura Wienroither: "We definitely want to win this game."
