MQ Vienna Fashion Week, Kreativwirtschaftsbörse: News from the Viennese fashion business

Yesterday at the MQ Vienna Fashion Week business exchange platform Kreativwirtschaftsbörse, the most important pillars of the city's fashion business presented their work as organizations or associations, how they support entrepreneurs, especially designers and crafts people, and what they are planning for the near future. Fashion.at visited the afternoon event held from 12:00 to 18:00 with a talk series and booths at the tent where the MQVFW runway shows happen this week until 17 September.

The Vienna State Guild of Fashion and Clothing Technology (Landesinnung Wien der Mode und Bekleidungstechnik) provided material for the guild's 'Mode Wien Akademie' courses for refining the techniques of pattern making and sewing such as for the creation of the individual style of a clothing piece from the basic pattern system (in Austria, the basic pattern system by M. Müller & Sohn, München is commonly in use). The Guild Master Patrizia Markus told Fashion.at that the current program consists of the most requested courses such as bra or corsage, bodice making. Additionally, the Mode Wien Akademie offers the service of individual courses for special techniques such as those practiced in high-couture. For companies or job seekers, the costs of the courses are financially supported by state subsidies.

At the 'go-international' stand, Fashion.at wasn't known. So, the journalistic magazine Fashion.at introduced itself with a short look back in time to 1996 when the domain began to serve the first editorial articles about Austrian fashion and culture to the whole world. The postal address of the digital magazine Fashion.at is Vienna from where information is delivered via internet to an audience which comes with around 90% from other countries. go-international is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ). It was established to provide financial support and export know-how for companies. One of the upcoming webinars is for example 'The Future of the Metaverse' which can be interesting also for fashion producers who plan to create digital fashion pieces for avatars or promotion activities in the metaverse.

On the way through the tent, Fashion.at spoke with Camille Boyer of the AFA - Austrian Fashion Association, co-founded and -funded by the Federal Ministry for Art and Culture and the Culture Department of the City of Vienna, about the currently ongoing fashion exhibition 'Crafting Fashion For Possible Futures' at the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York.
