Schedules of the 'MQ Vienna Fashion Week' (12 - 17 Sept) and the radio 'Ö1 Fashion Week' (10 - 18 Sept): From the latest collections and new talents on the runway to deep insights into fashion-related science and everyday knowledge on radio
RUNWAY
The schedule of the upcoming annual MQ Vienna Fashion Week is fixed and already published with direct links to the ticket shop. The events are starting on 12 September with the opening show and will be continued until 17 September with a diverse programme from couture and ready-to-wear runway shows over side projects like the business exchange platform 'Kreativwirtschaftsbörse Mode' for manufacturers, sample production companies, agents for fabrics, accessories, textile printers, etc on 13 September.
Highlights of the programme for the ones who are searching for new talents are the runway presentations of collections by students from Viennese fashion schools such as Modeschule Michelbeuern on 16 September or from the art, fashion and jewelry design school KunstModeDesign Herbststrasse on 17 September. Herbststrasse for example will present selected collections of students from the final classes. The Herbststrasse graduates developed their designs from an examination of architecture, historical images and socially critical statements for new ways of looking at fashion.
RADIO
Coincidentally at almost the same time as the latest fashion collections will be shown at the MQ Vienna Fashion Week, the 'Ö1 Fashion Week' of the Austrian radio station Ö1 will provide theoretical and practical knowledge about fashion from science and everyday life. Ö1 is the culture and information radio station of the public broadcaster ORF. The station is known for its focus on high-culture including music from classical opera to experimental music and the country's most important news broadcasts like the 'Morgenjournal' with live interviews and explanations for a better understanding of political, economic or social topics.
The same editorial approach of the radio station is applied to the upcoming 'Ö1 Fashion Week' which was programmed by the radio's specialized journalists for various formats like the broadcast 'Radiokolleg' which is known for preparing information for deep insights into a topic. On 15 September, the 'Radiokolleg - Getragene Geschichte in vier Kleidungsstücken' (Worn history in four pieces of clothing) traces history by observing the interdependencies between the changes of society, politics and fashion with a closer look at
four pieces that made history when they first appeared and have changed the meaning significantly over the course of history with society and politics: suit, sweatpants, bra and the Austrian traditional dress 'dirndl'.
The full programme of the Ö1 Fashion Week is published at oe1.orf.at/fashionweek.
