First details about Vienna Design Week (22 September - 1 October) and open calls published

Every year, the Vienna Design Week invites visitors to exhibitions for new perspectives on international design and to designers' studios for new views of the city. At the end of March, Vienna Design Week Director Gabriel Roland and his team presented the first details of the annual multidisciplinary design festival to invited media guests and on viennadesignweek.at. This year's Vienna Design Week will take place from 22 September to 1 October. Since the inauguration of the Design Week in 2007, the headquarters of the design festival has moved every year to a different district of Vienna. The location of this year's event has not yet been announced.

The Vienna Design Festival is in a state of evolution, which will be shaped together with potential participants. Currently, Vienna Design Week is running open calls on viennadesignweek.at/en/info/open-calls/, such as 'Fokus: The Series', which is dedicated to collectible design pieces produced in small series. Each piece of the small series is made unique by a detail and is produced using a method that is typical for the designer's work. The fee for participation in the group exhibition, curated by design expert Laura Houseley, will be calculated by piece. The cost per piece is 300 Euros. Further information on the criteria, such as the definition of a 'small series' (3 - 100 pieces) or questions that suggest that the methods of production are the central theme of the exhibition 'Fokus: The Series', can be found at viennadesignweek.at/en/info/open-calls/fokus-the-series/.
