Preview of the upcoming European Artistic Crafts Days in Vienna (31 March - 2 April)
The Viennese arts and crafts platform 'Wiener Kunsthandwerk' of the Trades and Crafts section of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce recently announced the programme of the upcoming 'European Artistic Crafts Days', which will take place in Vienna from 31 March until 2 April.
The artisans of Viennese handicrafts come from a wide variety of industries - currently 19 in total - ranging from fashion and clothing technology to gold and silversmiths, leather goods manufacturers, bookbinders, photographers, or the food industry, to name just a few from a long list that is published on www.kunsthandwerk.wien.
On the occasion of the European Artistic Crafts Days (since 2002), the initiative 'Wiener Kunsthandwerk' organized for the 9th time the special handicraft programme with insights into the studios, workshops and guided tours. This year, 24 countries from all over Europe will take part in the series of regional events dedicated to arts and crafts.
Among the participating artisans who will be opening their workshops are 'Die Zuckerlwerkstatt', known for its handmade Viennese confectionery using a 150-year-old craft technique; 'Lobmeyr', a glassware manufacturer that invites visitors to gain an insight into the company's 200-year history of producing tableware and decorative glass; and 'Kamakoma', an upcycling workshop that turns used materials into tableware, dolls, or bags. Details about the programme with workshops and tours are published at kunsthandwerkstage.at.
