Kitesurfing Champion Valentin Bontus Showcases His Signature Style in Uphill Kite Ride on the Slopes

From Olympic Waters to Alpine Heights

Valentin Bontus, the Austrian kitesurfer who clinched the inaugural Olympic gold in men's kiteboarding at the Paris 2024 Games, has once again pushed the boundaries of his sport. In a groundbreaking collaboration with the Austrian National Tourist Office (Österreich Werbung), Bontus swapped the waves for the snowy slopes of Saalbach Hinterglemm, showcasing his versatility and adventurous spirit.

Österreich Werbung: Promoting Austria's Tourism

The Austrian National Tourist Office, known locally as Österreich Werbung, serves as Austria's national tourism organization. Established in 1955, its primary mission is to promote Austria as a premier holiday destination, enhancing the country's competitiveness in the global tourism market. Through innovative marketing strategies and partnerships, Österreich Werbung aims to highlight the diverse experiences Austria offers to travelers.

A Spectacular Uphill Feat

In a newly issued press release, Österreich Werbung unveiled a captivating video featuring Bontus kitesurfing uphill on the renowned Ski World Championship slope in Saalbach. This daring ascent, moving from the traditional finish line to the start, was met with widespread acclaim across Austrian media outlets. The production was a collaborative effort between the creative agency Wien Nord Serviceplan and the production company HOVN Films; the presentation was staged by Chaka2.

Guidance from a Skiing Legend

To prepare for this unique challenge, Bontus trained under the mentorship of Michaela Kirchgasser, a distinguished Austrian alpine skier. Kirchgasser, who made her World Cup debut at 16 and has multiple World Championship medals to her name, brought her experience to the project.

Bontus's Signature Style

True to his distinctive style, Bontus donned his trademark white attire for the snowy endeavor, this time opting for a snow-white ski overall. Expressing his enthusiasm, he stated, "The slope here in Saalbach feels like a giant surfing wave that just won't stop."
