EMILY WATSON
fall/winter 2006/7

"An image of the body is abstracted into a line drawing, becomes a more abstract etching, is abstracted further with color, and ultimately becomes a piece of jewelry to be placed back onto the body.

My current work references the smoke proof, an outdated typecutter’s method. I use the etched copper plate to burn wood, print resist onto a sheet of zinc (which is then etched), print soot onto paper, and as a base on which to enamel. Through multiple printings on different materials, the images became increasingly obscured," Emily Watson more design >>>
