MANISH
ARORA
fall/winter 2006/7
The
most important things in life
can be experienced in yourself.
The
London based designer Manish Arora created a collection influenced
by the different cultures he is living in. The catwalk presentation
is inspired by the romantic figure Red Riding Hood and the
Sadhus meditating, a practice which leads through ascetic
life in nature to liberation and god. On luxurious fabrics like cashmere,
jacquard, silks and silk velvets he places the symbols of his beloved
homeland. On the empire-line dress the swan is more than decoration:
it represents the Hindu god Brahma and his wife Sarasvati, the goddess
of art and science. She is often accompanied by a peacock. next>>>
