NYC vs Johannesburg, couture vs street style!

New York based artist duo House of Diehl, Mary Jo Diehl and Roman Milisic, perform their next Style Battle Competition with 8 South African designers on 27 August during the South African Fashion Week in Johannesburg.

South Africa's top young designers have five minutes to prove their creativity and talent to sculpture new fashion on the stage.

By transcending geographic and ethnic boundaries, the fashion-artists House of Diehl turn this Style Battle into one of the most interesting: a new design star in Africa will be funded to make his/her next collection!

Style Wars® is the brainchild of Mary Jo Diehl and Roman Milisic of House of Diehl. It was first introduced to fashion savvy New Yorkers in 2001. Style Wars, The Style Battle Championships, was launched as a national tour in the U.S in 2007.

The first Style Battle tour brought together thousands of style-battle fans to sold-out shows across the U.S.: with crowds swelling from 40 at the first show in a tiny club on the Lower East Side, to over 3.000 at the finale!

The New York Times called it: “Impressive. ...Like an old-school MC Battle, with one crucial difference: they spit out rhymes where these guys spit out style...”.

The LA Times said: “A touring fight-out for the fashion-savvy art set… raising fashion's already quick pulse to a New York-minute.”

In addition to Style Wars, House of Diehl has produced many groundbreaking projects and fashion collections, which have received international acclaim, and destroyed the boundaries between audience, artist, fashion and music.
