"A clash of chaos within conformity"
New York based designer Brian Wood entitled the spring/summer B Wood t-shirt line 'Flash the Queen'.
On the vibrant colored shirts you will find icons of conformity and establishment mixed with the culturally contemptuous and profane. Brian Wood uses sexual undertones and the tradition of Wimbledon to celebrate the rebellious site of fashion: "You only live once - let's Flash the Queen".
Question: Why have you replaced the Queen's tongue with the symbol of the Rolling-Stones?
Brian Wood: "This Rolling Stones style tongue is used throughout out our collections on various designs, it was not made specifically for the Queen.
The entire spring collection was about defiance against conformity, being spontaneous, rebellious.
The idea for the Queen design was someone defacing a portrait of the Queen.
Not for a particular reason but the basic idea of rebelling against the system."
