SMITTEN
fall/winter 2009/10
American retrospective in fashion
Michael Simon, designer of the US label Smitten, launched for fall/winter 2009/10 his first worldwide knitwear collection.
For the new collection, the New Yorker designer who is based in the center the city's fashion production, the garment district, presents on his lookbook a 'Kiss' illustration (look-a-like?) by the American pop-comic artist Roy Lichtenstein. The retro collection, inspired by the designer's passion of the 1940’s romance comic books and their stories about intoxicating love, represents the practical, functionality that fashion had in these times as well as a strong woman becoming weak in certain situations such as in the illustration 'Kiss'.
Michael Simon's fashion fulfils the renewed fascination of contemporary consumers with the American retrospective.
The new collection will be featured at Fred Segal (known for the good hand in picking trend items) and other stores in US, in Japan and London.
