Ann Pala and Tomas Real, heads of the makeup and hair departments, completed Adam Sandler’s look. Just as Alan is taken aback in the film by his long-lost college buddy’s appearance, so are audience members to find Sandler looking uncharacteristically aged. His sallow, tired complexion and long, graying, and unkempt hair reflect the physical changes brought on by sleepless nights, detachment from the world around them, and problems with identity.

Actor Adam Sandler is born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Manchester, New Hampshire, Sandler’s first brush with comedy came at age 17, with a performance at a Boston comedy club. From then on he was hooked, performing regularly in comedy clubs throughout the state, while earning a degree in Fine Arts from New York University.
