John Woo, director of Face/Off (1997), starring John Travolta and Nicolas Cage, or for example Mission Impossible II with Tom Cruise was known primarily as a comedy specialist until the mid-1980s before creating a series of inspired romantic and violent gangster dramas that broke box-office records. John Woo’s career as a filmmaker began in Hong Kong. He was born in Guangzhou, China and came to Hong Kong with his family at age four. Woo was educated at Matteo Ricci College and, at age nineteen, began making experimental films. In lieu of film school, Woo sought entry-level positions in the flourishing Hong Kong film industry.

John Woo directs Zhao Zi Cun (Song Song) and Qi Ru Yi (Little Cat) in a story of simple truth and undying perseverance through unbelievable hardship.
