Can you talk about the prospects for virtual fashion shows with detailed
animated textiles?

I think the shift towards more realistic lighting techniques ( like "global illumination" and "radiosity") that is currently happening in feature film production will eventually allow "high end" representations of textiles in digital fashion shows.

As the power of computers is constantly increasing they also become more affordable. This will allow us to use more and more resources to accurately calculate the fabric's encounter with the body.

Virtual fashion shows will be successful when computationally expensive processes can be recycled: libraries of pre-calculated and reusable cloth properties will allow a more economic simulation process. And virtual model agencies will offer not only the reusable body motion -data for the mannequins, they will also provide background stories about the lives of virtual supermodels to create their fictional "image".
