Sacha Dean Biyan 2003
Biyan is currently
planning a major exhibition at the presitigous Fundação
Memorial da America Latina in São Paulo later this year. This exhibit
will showcase over 100 of his images from a project he began more than
five years ago related to indigenous tribes and cultures from around the
world. The “Earth Pilgrim” journey has taken Biyan to the
farthest reaches of the globe and has enabled him to live with remote
cultures and witness firsthand their struggle against the tide of globalization.
Since he began the project, several of the tribes he has documented have
nearly become extinct. He is now working on the publication of his first
book, hoping it will preserve a glimpse of the beauty and uniqueness of
these ancient, disappearing cultures. The driving force behind this project
was Biyan's lifelong fascination with tribal cultures and his desire to
raise people's awareness of basic human rights issues.
