'Green' products on the 'greenest' way to shop: Stella McCartney, Alexander Wang... in an online auction Barney's New York is the place in Beverly Hills, New York, Las Vegas... where the stars come out 'Paris Hilton Leaves Barney's New York On Saturday Afternoon' and in 'Jessica Alba At Barneys New York in Beverly Hills', 'Lindsay Lohan At Barney's New York And Maxfields' (videos seen on YouTube). On occasion of the Earth Day 2009 the designer shopping store Barney's New York (since 1923), Elle and eBay have chosen to present 'green' products on the 'greenest' way to shop: designer pieces made of re-cycled materials in an online-auction on eBay.
The auction pieces from eight designers - Versace, Stella McCartney, Derek Lam, Alexander Wang, Bottega Veneta, Rodarte, Rogan and Ann Demeulemeester - are made of recycled denim. The auction starts on 30 April 2009 at eBay.
The online project is accompanied by an artfully created store window at Barney's New York. The chain department store is famous for its windows: on www.barneys.com you can find a window-history back to 1999. The 'Earth Day' celebration auction window is displaying the exclusive designs of the 8 designers.
"Most people are simply too lazy to give it to someone else who can use it, but one of the “greenest” ways to shop is by buying pre-owned items and breathing new life into last season’s fashions," was on eBay's mind when they have started the project with Barney’s New York and Elle to celebrate Earth Day by auctioning off one-of-a-kind styles created out of recycled denim that Barney’s collected last summer. On eBay's website you can find more information about the 'green' thinking of the virtual auction house http://www.ebaygreenteam.com/. Bidding for the Barney's fashion pieces starts at 99 cents and all proceeds benefit Oceana, the largest international organization focused 100 percent on ocean conservation www.eBay.com www.fashionoffice.org/collections/2009/barneys4-2009.htm.
