Rather than creating a collection for Paris Haute Couture Week ’09, Stella McCartney recently held a soiree to celebrate her first flagship store in Paris, which joins the enclave of other shops at the Jardins du Palais Royal.
Fur- and leather-free designs
Despite the devastating economic crisis that has painfully affected the fashion industry, the designer remains hopeful with two new store openings in Tokyo and Paris. She is optimistic that her fur- and leather-free designs will give consumers another reason to select a more luxurious brand.
Shimmering 'rain units'
The light Japanese ash wood walls add a touch of warmth and elegance. While there is minimal décor on the interior, the clothing racks are accented with hanging brass columns - or “rain units” as McCartney calls them - that shimmer as they capture the subtle lighting.
The modern feel of this particular store provides the sophisticated space for McCartney’s chic one-piece jumpsuits, well-tailored blazers, and eco-friendly cocktail dresses.
