Interested in fashion, but not a fashion victim

Dublin (Ireland) based John Rocha (born in Hong Kong) says in an interview for the UK headquartered worldwide store chain Debenhams that he is designing his fashion for women who are interested in fashion but who are not fashion victims. His fashion is organically inspired and takes its inspiration from a life on the natural surface of earth. The designer's patterns are giving room for the material's free behaviour which initiates a lively play of its texture.

John Rocha works closely with his wife and business partner Odette. In 1994, he was awarded with the title 'British Designer of the Year', in 2002 he received a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) award from Her Majesty the Queen. John Rocha creates crystal table ware, interiors, architecture, jewellery, and fashion (men, women, kids).

For the new ready-to-wear collection, John Rocha was inspired by art, music and the landscapes of Iceland.

Second picture - view it as the original: The key piece of the FW2011/12 collection is inspired by the monochrome black lacquer-alike reflective paintings by Pierre Soulages. John Rocha translated the view on surface into a black long jacket made of tumbles, loops of uncombed yarn with silk/cashmere tassels and a shearling collar.
