Experiencing the body through media
On occasion of the exhibition of the work of multi-disciplinary (dance, theory, film, poetry...) US artist Yvonne Rainer under the title 'Space, Body, Language' (photos, films, notebooks, dance scores, scripts...) from 4 February to 9 April 2012 at the KUB (Kunsthaus Bregenz) in Austria, the performances 'Spiraling Down' and 'Assisted Living: Good Sports 2' will be staged on 1 February at the Vorarlberger Landestheater in Bregenz.
'Spiraling Down' (2008) is inspired by sport and media - especially football players (Pelé) and their moves, internet technologies and old movies (Fred Astaire). 'Assisted Living: Good Sports 2' (2011) follows a similar principle: the moves of the dancers are derived from photographs from the sports section of the 'New York Times'.

"The scaling of the work to the human body, deliberate repetition, and the avoidance of strategies of overwhelmment are already conspicuous in one of her early works now considered a milestone of postmodern dance: Trio A (1966)." kunsthaus-bregenz.at
