David Lang is 'Musical America's 2013 Composer of the Year'. In 2008, he received the Pulitzer Prize for the minimalistic choral work 'The Little Match Girl Passion' which follows Hans Christian Andersen's story about a girl who is sent out by her father into the cold to sell matches and references Bach's 'Saint Matthew Passion' (excerpt below; New York Times review).
Now, the MCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) Chicago announces the world premiere of David Lang's new work 'The Whisper Opera' on 30 May 2013; on view until 2 June (60 minutes - flute, clarinet, percussion, cello, and solo soprano). Writer of the opera text is David Lang who was inspired by "scraps of secrets found on the internet revealed by various people."
