Orlando Bloom Becomes the Face of Porsche Design's Timepieces and Eyewear

Austria may not be among the world's largest nations, but its impact on design and innovation is undeniable. This week, Studio F. A. Porsche showcased the continued evolution of Porsche Design timepieces and eyewear, rooted in the 1970s, with actor Orlando Bloom as the brand's new ambassador.

Design history dating back to 1972

Studio F. A. Porsche, based in Zell am See, Austria, is one of the country's most renowned design studios. Established in 1972 by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the creator of the legendary Porsche 911, the studio has a long history of blending innovative design with functionality. Initially founded in Stuttgart, Germany, it moved to Austria in 1974, where it continues to develop products that reflect the brand's philosophy of precision and aesthetics.

The role of Porsche 911 in the design of the Chronograph 1

In the same year that Studio F. A. Porsche was established, it introduced the Chronograph 1. This timepiece was revolutionary, being the first all-black wristwatch ever created. Inspired by the dashboard instruments of the Porsche 911, it set new standards in watchmaking. Over the decades, the Chronograph 1 has been reinterpreted while maintaining its original design principles, with recent editions incorporating modern technology and high-performance materials.

Orlando Bloom as Brand Ambassador

Actor Orlando Bloom has recently been announced as the face of Porsche Design's timepieces and eyewear collections. A long-time Porsche enthusiast, Bloom embodies the values of the brand—precision, craftsmanship, and innovation. The campaign, shot by photographer Dan Beleiu, features Bloom wearing the Chronograph 1 - All Black Numbered Edition, reinforcing the watch's legacy of bold design and technical excellence.

P'8478 Sunglasses with interchangeable lens system

In addition to the timepiece, the campaign highlights the P'8478 sunglasses, one of the most distinctive eyewear models from Porsche Design. Launched in 1978, these sunglasses were the first to introduce an interchangeable lens system, allowing users to adapt to different lighting conditions with ease. Made from lightweight titanium and featuring highly durable lenses, the P'8478 continues to be a hallmark of the style and functionality of Porsche.
