JOOP! Menswear fall/winter 2008/9
... design by Dirk Schönberger, at the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week on 28th Jan 2008 in Berlin.
"Neu Bauhaus" is the title of the first JOOP! collection under the art direction of designer Dirk
Schönberger. The Bauhaus idea of being unique through an artistic spirit, even in a
world of mass-production, is re-vived in this collection.
Bauhaus was a school for architects, artists, designers which existed in Weimar, Dessau, Berlin between the years 1919 - 1933; Bauhaus means "build a house".
<photo You can find the famous aesthetics of German architecture during the Bauhaus period in this collection. The used materials and colors emphasise the characteristically Bauhaus functional design with its geometry and straight lines: the suits and coats are made of durable fabrics (tweed, loden, doubleface) in earthy brown, graphite, steel blue.
