The Florentine fashion house Gucci combines rock'n'roll, Gucci's historic logo, which shows a knight in armor carrying luggage, and vintage shapes inspired by the 70ies in the new eyewear collections for women and men.

Frida Giannini was inspired by the New York band MGMT (last.fm/music/MGMT) because of their style of mixing military, vintage, surfer outfits ... The MGMT track 'Time to pretend' was also played on the catwalk. For the designer a new style comes from influences of the past as well as from the contemporary.

a knight in armor carrying luggage, a nod to local legend that the Gucci family were saddlers
to Renaissance royalty. Above the knight there is a rose and helm, chosen to symbolize
respectively a certain refinement and the entrepreneurial power of the family. The historical Gucci crest was sourced
from Gucci’s archives.

Frida Giannini, Creative Director of Gucci, born in Rome in 1972, studied fashion design at Rome's Fashion Academy.
From 1997 on she worked at Fendi as a ready to wear designer for three seasons before being named designer for Fendi leathergoods.
In September 2002 she joined Gucci as Handbag Design Director.
In March 2005 she was named Creative Director of Gucci Women's ready-to-wear, in addition to her responsibilities for all accessories.
In January 2006 she also became in charge of men's wear, thus becoming the sole Creative Director of the label.
In 2008 Gucci opened a new chapter in the history of the fashion house: on 1st May 2008 Gucci has extended gucci.com with an interactive presentation of the Gucci Chiodo timepieces to introduce the new Chiodo collection with Gucci-widgets such as a personal scrapbook, a calendar, ....
