Yohji Yamamoto's dragon-bird on Real Madrid players' jerseys
On 26 August 2014, the collaborative results of Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto for the football champions of Real Madrid were presented. Japanese couturier Yohji Yamamoto translated the idea of sports competition and victory into black football jerseys which have the designer's signature martial arts appeal. At the front of the shirt (detail image below), Yamamoto placed a dragon-bird such as it is known from mystical stories about fable creatures. The dragon-bird combines strength, determination, power (qualities of a dragon) and speed, agility, cunning (the bird). For Yamamoto, these are qualities of Real Madrid's star players.
