9 July 2015 Vibram provides insights into Red Bull X-Alps Several days ago on 5 July, the around two weeks long hiking-flying mountain race from Salzburg to Monaco with more than 30 athletes from all over the world started. The route goes over mountains like Dachstein (AT), Matterhorn (CH) or Mont Blanc (FR); it's not allowed to use any other transport facilities than the paraglider or the own feet; when on feet, they have to carry the glider. Now, the Italian sports, work and lifestyle shoe label Vibram (founded as mountaineering footwear label with soles made of rubber in collaboration with Pirelli - history) sent some images of one of the Red Bull X-Alps athletes, the 26-years old Pascal Purin (AT) who is Vibram athlete and the label's shoe tester. fig.: The image right shows Pascal Purin (video bio) wearing Vibram shoes. Pascal Purin is also test-pilot for the Austrian paraglider and flying equipment manufacturer Nova. The video below shows him in Vent (sounds like a word play when you see him starting; it's the name of a mountain village in Ötztal, Austria), during the Red Bull X-Alps race.
