11 July 2016 Earlier this month, the Austrian department stores of Peek & Cloppenburg opened the new online store under the address peek-cloppenburg.at. The store contains some exclusively online available labels and ranges such as a collection of traditional alpine 'dirndl' dresses. The dirndl consists of narrow top with wide skirt part, apron, and when the top is sleeveless with blouse. The basic form of the dirndl is since centuries almost the same and functioned originally as stage for expressing with colors, patterns, special fabric manufacturing like permanent pleats, ruffles, tucks, ribbons and other textile and non-textile applications the origin of the wearer. Today, it's used in the most cases simply as fashion-dirndl for festive events like weddings but also for the beer festival 'Oktoberfest' in September and October. The two dirndls (styled with bags) are from the current Peek & Cloppenburg 'Dirndl' collection. fig. from left (the dirndls are exclusively available via peek-cloppenburg.at): Black bag by S.OLIVER in the form of a classical hunter bag, embellished with floral embroidered red ribbon and heart applications. Red and black dirndl with floral (roses) pattern, lace apron, blouse with lace details and underdress with ruffles by Wiesnkönig. Dirndl in red and blue with skirt and apron in contrasting colored vichy fabrics, blouse with embroideries by Wiesnkönig. The light-grey bag by S.OLIVER references the traditional pouch which is worn with a dirndl. |
