Tchibo uses environment protecting and nature inspired textiles for the upcoming #Time4Green collections

Fashion.at previewed some of the items the internationally active coffee bar and lifestyle goods retail chain Tchibo will offer in the upcoming weeks for summer sports activities and the colder, rainy days of autumn. Fashion.at's interest was evoked by Tchibo's hashtag #Time4Green for the announcement of sustainable textiles used for the range of everyday products like sportswear made of ocean plastic, socks of cotton from water saving cultivation or raincoats with nature (duck feathers) inspired finishing. In 2016, the German in Hamburg headquartered company received 'The National German Sustainability Award' in the category 'Germany's Most Sustainable Corporate Business' for activities reaching from coffee cultivation, over logistics (keyword: low-emission) to social standards. Recycling is one of the central themes for the design of the capsules of the brand's own Cafissimo system as well as for products of the 'Non Food' range such as the upcoming 'Active' sports- and swimwear made of ECONYL® yarns recycled from garbage of the oceans like fishing nets or PET bottles (available from 14 August at Tchibo stores and online).

From 11 September, the 'Socks'-collection from organic cotton will be available. According to Tchibo, more than 80% of cotton used by the company for clothing and home textiles comes from sustainable sources that require less water. In 2017, Tchibo produced 50 million products made of organic cotton and saved this way around 19 billion liters of water in cultivation.
