13 August 2018 The first items from the new Falke Fall/Winter 2018/19 collection 'Perfect Imperfection' can be found already online like men's socks named 'Samurai' or 'Calligraphy' (fast checked today on falke.com). The collection is inspired by the Japanese concept of aesthetics 'wabi-sabi' based on the Buddhism-related philosophy concerning the perception of the beauty of nature and its imperfection as well its continuous transformation ('sabi' means to age well, rust, get patina). The designers visualized for the 'Perfect Imperfection' range signature Japanese crafts such as 'shodo' (Japanese calligraphy), 'origami' (paper folding), or 'kintsugi'. Last mentioned term means 'golden joinery' how it's used for broken ceramics; according to the concept of wabi-sabi, repairing smashed pottery upgrades its beauty. fig.: 'Kintsugi' men's socks by Falke, FW2018/19. |
